Job overview

We are looking for a highly motivated and innovative  nurse ,with a passion for inpatient nursing  on a female acute ward, to be the next Wintle  Ward Manager

Wintle Ward is a 16-bedded female acute ward for females with a diagnosis of mental illness and/or personality disorder. We are looking for a  Ward Manager with a caring, non-judgemental, and inclusive attitude, who is committed to the delivery of safe, high quality care in an acute ward setting. 

If you  have  experience of leadership and management in the in-patient setting  you could be the right person to  lead, manage and inspire our dedicated team.

Main duties of the job

As the Wintle Ward manager, you would be responsible  for the effective operational management, organisation and delivery of high-quality nursing care and clinical leadership within the inpatient ward.  You will  provide, maintain and develop nursing care to the optimum standard possible within the resources provided. The ward manager is seen as a  clinical leader, providing role modelling, facilitation, and education to the nursing team.

You will work In conjunction with the multidisciplinary ward leadership team, including the  Modern Matron, Consultant Psychiatrist and Consultant Psychologist. 

You will  contribute to the development of acute service provision across the Adult Acute Pathway. 

You will also work closely with the  Senior Matron,  Head of Nursing, Head of Service, and Clinical Director.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Wintle Ward is a 16-bedded female acute ward for females with a diagnosis of mental illness and/or personality disorder. 

We  are involved in quality improvement (QI) projects designed  to  improve patient care and outcomes using evidence based practice and are a member of  QNWA and accredited.

Learning and development opportunities include Non-Medical Prescribing, (NMP) Clinical Leadership  in Health care, Psychosocial and Family interventions  and Professional Nurse advocacy (PNA)
