We work with a wide range of partner organisations to deliver care and support to people in their own homes and from a number of hospitals and community bases. We focus on delivering care as close to home as possible for people of all ages across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Swindon, Wiltshire, Bath and North East Somerset.

Job overview

Are you highly motivated? Enthusiastic? Thoughtful?

We're looking for a nurse with excellent communication skills, and a flexible and positive attitude to lead and inspire others on Phoenix Ward.

Phoenix ward is a 18-bedded male acute ward for males of working age (18-65 years-of-age) with a diagnosis of mental illness and/or personality disorder.  Phoenix Ward also has a Health Based Place of Safety of which Phoenix Ward nursing staff support in the care and treatment that is provided to patients brought in under a Section 136 and 135 MHA.

You should have a caring, non-judgmental, and inclusive attitude and be committed to the delivery of safe, high quality care to patients and their loved ones. Experience in an acute setting would be an advantage, but is not essential as we will provide you with all the training required.

Main duties of the job

You will be expected to be dynamic and committed to patient care, by positively advocating for patients, actively contributing to and supporting the recovery process as well as maintaining the high standards of patient care whilst working within a safe, secure and supportive environment. You will be expected to lead and co-ordinate shifts as Nurse in Charge, along with safely dispensing and administering medication to patients, in line with the 6 Rs and safe medication management.

You will assist our dedicated members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team in implementing and evaluating individual collaborative care plans by working alongside the patient to support their recovery journey. Your duties will also include actively supporting individual clients in engaging with their local community and reducing social isolation.

Whilst practicing as a Deputy Ward Manager, you will be responsible for providing clinical and managerial supervision to a  team of colleagues and will be actively encouraged to promote the further progression, training and study in others to develop professionally, as well as monitoring performance within your team including sickness absence. You will also be required to cover the ward manager on occasions which will support in the further development of your leadership skills.
