Job overview

We are looking for Inpatient Domestic Cleaners to join our team at the Whiteleaf Centre in Aylesbury to provide a safe and clean environment for patients and staff across our inpatient wards. The role involves housekeeping duties as well as preparing and serving cook/chill meals for patients.  

The Whiteleaf Centre is a mental health facility providing inpatient and community care in a modern and welcoming environment. The centre incorporates four inpatient wards, day hospital facilities, and a range of outpatient treatment and therapies. These roles will be working in Ruby Ward (female adults 18-65) and Sapphire Ward (male adults 18-65). 

We're looking for team players who are flexible and reliable, with good interpersonal and communication skills. You'll be a key part of improving our patient experience by providing a high-quality housekeeping service ensuring a clean and safe environment for all. You'll also be carrying out terminal and enhanced cleaning. 

Ideally, you'll have a Level 2 Food Hygiene Qualification however we can provide training required for all aspects of this role so please do consider applying, even if you don't have a lot of experience in this area.

This role involves working on a rota which includes shift work covering 7am-3pm and 10.30am-6.30pm. Enhanced rates will be paid at weekends. 

Main duties of the job

  • Carry out daily cleaning routines as scheduled
  • Handle and remove waste in line with segregation processes and procedures
  • Unpack and stack all linen and laundry
  • Regenerate cook/chill meals recording the temperatures of food at stages defined as appropriate within the relevant wards
  • Ensure kitchen equipment, regeneration equipment and all surfaces are clean at all time
  • Ensure food is ready to be served at the correct times for service and all waste food is discarded immediately after service.
  • Ensure the dining room is cleaned after each meal.
  • Wash-up and account for all cutlery and crockery and kitchen utensils after meals and breaks.
  • Ensure all food items are correctly stored and there are adequate supplies.
  • Follow hygiene and health & safety regulations
  • Ensure cleaning trolleys are fully stocked with sufficient cleaning materials, equipment to clean each area.
  • Ensure all cleaning materials are used as directed and secured securely and safely in compliance with COSHH regulations.
  • Observes proper procedures upon entering a patient room
  • Reports any damages or hazards that are present in patient room, i.e., burnt out light bulbs, broken furniture, broken fixtures, etc. to Head Housekeeper
