We are seeking highly motivated registered nurses who have experience in stroke rehabilitation or nurses who would like to make the change to develop in this specialist area.

Main duties of the job

You will assess, plan, evaluate and deliver all relevant aspects of patient care in a caring, compassionate and sensitive manner. Work closely with the multi-disciplinary team and contribute to the clinical governance process. Act as a mentor/preceptor to junior staff, with specific responsibility for pre-registration students. The post holder will take delegated responsibility for the management of the clinical team and the maintenance of high standards of quality patient care on a shift to shift basis.

OSRU provides stroke rehabilitation care along with more advanced sub-acute nursing skills such as cannulation, phlebotomy, IV care, NG management and complex discharge planning.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Oxfordshire Stroke Rehabilitation Unit at Abingdon Community Hospital provides specialist rehabilitation for patients in Oxfordshire who have had an acute stroke.  We work as a cohesive multi professional team, supporting patients' recovery which will enable them to return home or move to other care settings.
