Job overview

We have  an exciting  opportunity as a Band 6  Community Respiratory Nurse, Band 6, within our South Notts Cardiorespiratory Service.

 

This post is eligible for a Golden Hello payment of £2,750 for new starters who are external to the Trust.  This is payable in 3 instalments over a 2 year period.  This payment is only eligible to new starters who do not already hold a contract of employment with the Trust and have not been an employee of the Trust in the previous 3 years.  This post also includes paid enhancements for unsocial hours working during night, weekends and bank holidays.

Main duties of the job

Whilst this post is mainly based in the West Bridgford area there will be a requirement to work across the Rushcliffe  area to meet the needs of the service, therefore you must be a full UK drivers licence holder and have access to a car for work purposes. 

The South-Notts Cardio Respiratory Service is a community based team, which provides holistic and multidisciplinary evidence based support for respiratory patients in the South-Notts area.  This service includes Specialist Community Respiratory Nurses, the Home Oxygen Service and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.  Working in partnership with other community teams, primary care and close support from Respiratory Consultants in secondary care.  We aim to improve quality of life and promote self-management for respiratory patients through comprehensive holistic interventions. 

A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post; however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will be an experience Nurse responsible for providing specialist respiratory nursing care and will work flexibly supporting the team to deliver high quality patient care. You will need to demonstrate excellent risk assessment communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to be adaptable, reliable, resourceful and approachable. Producing succinct patient assessment reports is essential and ensuring a high level of documentation within the specialist and  holistic assessment which enables patients to be cared for in their own homes and clinic settings. You will facilitate the prevention of unnecessary hospital admission/re-admission by reducing the effects of ill health and disability and maximising the individual's potential for independence. A robust induction and competency-based development package will be provided.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • • 1st Level Registered Nurse
  • • 2-3 Years post-registration plus evidence of further specialist knowledge/post registration experience to diploma level or equivalent underpinned by theory in Respiratory
  • • Relevant post registration diploma/degree courses in respiratory management
Desirable criteria
  • • Asthma Diploma
  • • Flips or equivalent Preparation for the role of Mentor (Assessor) and Preceptor", or ENB 998 or equivalent.
  • • V300/Independent Nurse Prescribing Qualification

Training

Essential criteria
  • • Demonstrates meeting the requirements of CPD

Experience

Essential criteria
  • • Proven post qualification experience with some at a Band 6 level.
  • • Recent experience in frailty/respiratory care
