Job overview

To provide visible day-to-day leadership to in-house operational staff and Supervisors in clinical and non-clinical areas by planning, organising and supervising to ensure all performance targets are met which contribute to the Trust improving a broad spectrum of Facilities services to patients, staff and visitors.

To monitor, develop, establish performance requirements and improvements, address deficiencies and evaluate the work of Facilities staff to achieve assigned goals and objectives.

Main duties of the job

This position requires individuals with knowledge and experience of Facilities areas, including Catering, Domestic/Cleaning, Portering and Waste.

Office based work and site wide visibility is required to ensure that the environment in clinical and non-clinical areas and the service support from other Facilities areas is maintained to a high standard.    This position will also be vital in support the Catering Team in meal provision for patients and ensuring their dietary needs are met.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Responsible for overseeing Facilities Services being actively involved at Supervisory level to ensure a professional, skilled and knowledgeable workforce is maintained whilst working within Policy.

Please note that this post does not meet the pay level required for a Skilled worker visa.

Successful applicants with no prior NHS experience would normally be placed at the bottom of the band in line with Agenda for Change. This salary is below the minimum salary required for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa. In these circumstances the Trust would not, therefore, be able to sponsor for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Level 2 Food Safety Certificate
Desirable criteria
  • Recognised cleaning or support services qualification

Training

Essential criteria
  • Ability to undertake all mandatory training as required by the individual site.
  • Ability to undertake any necessary skills and competency training required by the post.
Desirable criteria
  • Level 3 Health & Safety Certificate.
  • Level 3 Food Safety Certificate
  • I. L.M or N.E.B.S.S Certificate or equivalent supervisor qualification
  • CPC

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in staff supervision of Facilities Services
  • Experienced in delivering of training to staff
Desirable criteria
  • Skilled in recruitment and selection of staff
  • Experience in group training

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of Infection Control
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety including COSHH/risk assessments/manual handling activities
  • Knowledge of cleaning equipment requirements
  • Knowledge of stock control procedures
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of relevant NHS procedures and practices, including legal requirements
