Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the position of Practitioner for Restrictive Practice at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We are seeking to appoint a dynamic professional trainer with practical knowledge and understanding of clinical and non-clinical operations within a large acute setting.
This is an exciting opportunity for career development and an ideal chance to enhance and utilise your skills, knowledge and expertise. You will need to be a highly motivated individual looking for a new challenge and enjoy coordinating assessments and communicating with a wide range of people.
Reporting to the Professional Lead for Security Management & Violence Reduction you will be joining an existing team where your key area of responsibility will be to advise and support clinical and non clinical colleagues in violence and aggression and patients that can be of complex nature. You will be advising and supporting the Trust in delivering the Trust’s Violence Reduction Strategy and helping the Trust deliver training to achieve compliance with both current and future violence and aggression training requirements and standards.

Knowledge Requirements
Essential criteria
- Knowledge requirement of criminal law, and criminal justice system with an emphasis on safety and security within the NHS environment.
- Knowledge requirement of CRT/V&A/Restraint training requirements and legislation in line with NHS guidance and Health & Safety at Work Act.
- Knowledge of process of risk assessment relating to safety within the workplace.
- Robust knowledge ofmental health, safeguarding, restrictive practice, relevant legislation and the ability to reflect this within practice and guidance
Desirable criteria
- Good drafting, interpersonal and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation and external agencies.
- Good IT skills.
Qualifications/Academic/Craft/Professional
Essential criteria
- Good general standard of education
- Dipolma/Degree in relevant subject or evidence of professional development to this level
- Teaching qualification or evidence of significant experience in this area
Desirable criteria
- NHS Security Management Professional Accreditation for dealing with violence and aggression and conflict resolution
- aggression and conflict resolution. Recognised teaching or trainer qualification, NVQ 3 or PTTLS equivalent. Registered qualification
Further Training
Essential criteria
- To undergo professional training in security management and restrictive interventions provided by the Trust On going professional development as required within competency and skills framework.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Highly developed presentation and teaching skills in order to deliver training programmes throughout a multi disciplinary workforce.
- Previous experience of working in Security or restrictive practice environment experience of working in a clinical environment within the NHS
Contractual Requirements
Essential criteria
- Response to restrictive practice and security incidents.
- Flexibility of working to maintain effective delivery of service.
