Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Management Accountant within our Financial Management Team.

Reporting to the Divisional Finance Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to a comprehensive financial management and support service to divisions, providing key business and financial support to this division.

Person specification

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge and understanding Financial Management processes.
  • High level knowledge of IT packages, including Word, Excel and computerised finance systems including financial ledger, budgeting and costing systems
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge and understanding of NHS financial requirements.
  • Experience of NHS costing and SLA monitoring systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Reference Costs and the service line reporting agenda within the NHS, and an awareness of Patient Level Costing.
  • Advanced Excel.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Fully qualified AAT member or qualified by suitable extensive experience
Desirable criteria
  • Part qualified CCAB.

Further Training

Essential criteria
  • A commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.
Desirable criteria
  • Commitment to studying for a professional accountancy qualification (CCAB).

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Substantial experience of working in a busy financial management environment.
  • Previous experience of management accounting and costing techniques.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of Financial Management within the NHS.

  • An ability and willingness to be flexible with hours and duties to meet the needs of the Department.
