Knowledge Requirements

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge within a specialism.
  • Excellent knowledge of pharmaceutical technical procedures.
  • Knowledge and experience of pharmacy processes and the IT systems used within a pharmacy department and trust for medicines management

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BTEC/NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences
  • City & Guilds or equivalent in Pharmaceutical Sciences
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Mandatory CPD to maintain fitness to practice
  • Experience of pharmacy computer systems
Desirable criteria
  • GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English, and Science
  • GCSE Grade A or B in maths (or equivalent)
  • Clinical Qualification in Pharmaceutical Sciences

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant hospital pharmacy experience (2-3years) as a registered technician.
  • Experience as an Accredited Checking Technician. Checking Technician. Demonstrated experience of multidisciplinary team working
  • Practical experience of using pharmacy computer systems (e.g. JAC or Ascribe)
  • Experience of working in a ward environment
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to deliver complex information in a usable format
  • Willingness to learn new skills
  • Ability to use own initiative
  • Meets set targets
  • Attention to detail
Desirable criteria
  • Supervisory Ability
  • Training ability
  • Previous experience of change management
  • Previous experience of working with an EPMA system

  • Regular attendance
  • Ability to work weekends / bank holidays / late and nights shifts / provide oncall support

  • Car owner with current driving licence
  • Telephone owner

  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development to maintain fitness to practice
  • IT / Keyboard Skills
