Are you looking for something different that will offer you a unique opportunity to develop your clinical and interdisciplinary team working skills and support your career development? If yes, we have an exciting position to support your learning within the medical Occupational Therapy Team.
This is an opportunity to join a dynamic and evolving therapy teams at Sherwood Forest Hospitals Trust. Currently the band 6 medical Occupational therapist will cover areas including; respiratory, cardiology, endocrine and general medical patients. Wherever placed you will work as part of the therapy team helping to reduce patients length of stay and optimising chances of staying at home through timely therapy intervention and treatments.
As part of the wider therapy team you will be responsible for providing a high standard specialist occupational therapy service with a focus on prompt therapy treatment and facilitating timely hospital discharge.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a dynamic, innovative and highly motivated HCPC registered Occupational Therapist with minimum 12 months experience in a broad range of areas to work within our therapy teams. You will be an excellent team worker with specialist knowledge across a range of occupational therapy treatments. You should have excellent communication, prioritisation and organisational skills. You should also have experience in working in a multidisciplinary team .You should be willing to participate in seven day working across a variety of shift hours.
In return you will gain excellent clinical and leadership experience. You will also develop organisational skills and service development experience.

Knowledge Requirements
Essential criteria
- Sound Clinical knowledge of medical conditions and applied occupational therapy techniques
- Ability to prioritise & work under pressure
- Delegation skills
- Excellent communication skills (verbal & written)
- Ability to work as a team member as well as alone but with access to more senior colleague
- IT skills
- Knowledge of NHS procedures, policies and guidelines
- Ability to formulate and develop specialised individual treatment programmes and ability in using clinical reasoning skills
Qualifications-Academic/Craft/Professional
Essential criteria
- BSc (Hons) or Graduate Diploma in Occupational Therapy or equivalent
- Registration with HCPC
Desirable criteria
- Membership of the College of Occupational Therapists
Further Training
Essential criteria
- Attendance at relevant clinical post graduate courses taught often at modular Masters level
- Practice Placement Educators training
Desirable criteria
- APPLE Accreditation training
Experience
Essential criteria
- Completion of postgraduate junior rotation to include a rotation in medicine
- Broad understanding of occupational therapy process and frameworks
- Experience of audit and service review
- Experience of supervising other staff and/or students
- NHS experience including knowledge of policies and procedures
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of contribution to clinical education of less experienced staff, assistants and students

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
