Senior Clinical Pharmacist

Band 7

Job overview

This unique posts offers you the rare opportunity to further your career by gaining experience working clinically across medium and high secure forensic mental health settings. The post is permanent and full time, although part-time and job share would be considered. Consideration will also be given to those returning to practice.

Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Secure Hospital Pharmacy Services work across the county and beyond, providing a range of supply and clinical services within low, medium and high secure settings. Our pharmacy strategy positions pharmacists as clinicians and fully integrated members of the multidisciplinary team, optimising the use of medicines for our patients.

Wathwood and Rampton Hospital are both located within beautiful countryside whilst being within easy reach of major cities. Parking on site is free.

We will consider flexible/compressed working hours for our roles, please indicate in your application if this is something you require.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a registered clinical pharmacist with an interest or experience in working in secure mental health settings. You will join a highly motivated and expert pharmacy team with responsibility for delivering a clinical pharmacy service to a mixed caseload of patients.

You will be based at Rampton Hospital (which provides regional services for males with mental illness or personality disorder, national services for women, and national services for males with a learning disability or who are deaf).

Our Rampton Hospital supply service is technician-led and medicines are provided from  our Nottingham dispensary hub.  We are just starting our journey towards implementing EPMA. We do not work shifts, weekends or bank holidays, but you will participate in the trust on call pharmacy service, which you will be remunerated for.

Due to the nature of the environment we operate in, the post attracts a high secure allowance payment of £3,000 per annum (pro rata).

Working for our organisation

Nottinghamshire Healthcare employs over 10,000 colleagues who help #MakeADifference every day. We provide intellectual disability, mental health, community health, forensic and offender healthcare services across Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and South Yorkshire. Care is delivered from over 120 sites within the community from acute settings and across low, medium and high secure environments including prisons.

As one of the largest mental health and community trusts in the East Midlands and one of the biggest employers in Nottinghamshire. We are also home to national and regional services such as the National High Secure Deaf Service and the Nottingham Centre for Transgender Health.

We are committed to flexible and agile working, including the opportunity to join our bank.

Your health and wellbeing is our priority and as such we invest significantly in this via our in-house Occupational Health Service, Staff Counselling Service and Health and Wellbeing Team.

We offer a number of employee-led staff networks, including Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) groups, our Green Champions Network, Freedom to Speak Up Network. Health and Wellbeing Champions Network and Menopause Champions. We provide care to a diverse range of communities and are passionate about supporting diversity and inclusion in the Trust.
