Job overview
We are looking for a high performing leader to work as part of the triumverate for Directorate 4 as part of Care Group 1.
Care Group 1 brings together most medical services at Nottingham University Hospitals. Teams provide planned, urgent, and emergency care for adults in our local community. This is through outpatient, procedural, diagnostic, cancer, regional, national, and in-patient services across more than 30 wards. The services, directorate and care group structures for Nottingham University Hospitals are attached for further information.
Directorate 4 brings together the following four services: Clinical Haematology, Oncology & Radiotherapy, Dermatology, Clinical Allergy & Immunology.
The Care Group Director of Nursing and Professions is a pivotal key member of the Care Group leadership team instrumental in the delivery of safe patient care to ensure key performance targets including finance, workforce and service improvement goals and targets are delivered.
Main duties of the job
This post involves working within a triumvirate at a directorate level, as part of the wider Care Group. The post holder will work alongside the Care Group Director of Nursing and contribute to the strategic direction and policy setting within the Care Group, forming an essential communication link between the services, directorate and wider Care Group structures
The Head of Nursing and Professions will be accountable for the efficient and effective operational management guaranteeing provision of high-quality evidence based nursing. They will be a strong clinical leader, easily identifiable, highly visible and accessible to patients, carers and staff.
The post holder will have a particular responsibility to support the developments of patient safety, clinical governance and service improvement to drive forward services that are embedded within the People First strategy.

Essential criteria
- Qualified Clinical Practitioner
- Registered with appropriate regulatory body (NMC, HCPC) with a first degree
- Master’s Degree or relevant experience
- Teaching qualification
- Extensive Knowledge of the NHS and current clinical standards
- In depth knowledge of education, training, staff development issues
- Evidence of CPD
