This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for someone who has extensive experience of mental health services to join the senior leadership team as Associate Director of Quality.  The post holder provides senior leadership, oversight, and expert knowledge on the Quality agenda across the organisation, to ensure service user experience and quality is prioritised and characterize the work of the Trust. 

This role is integral to ensuring the Trust’s compliance with legislation and national, local and Trust systems, frameworks, and standards. Provide strategic leadership for quality and clinical governance and ensure there are robust systems and processes in place including oversight of our regulatory and registration obligations, especially as these develop Ensure that the Trust is prepared for and embraces Care Quality Commissions (CQC) responsive and planned inspections with comprehensive management arrangements across operational and corporate services.

The post holder is pivotal in liaison with other key professionals across the Trust, and functional heads within the Chief Nurse and the Executive Medical Directors, will lead standard setting, quality planning and improvements to ensure efficient, effective and high-quality standards of patient care are developed and sustained.

The Associate Director of Quality will support the Deputy Chief Nurse with outward facing elements of the quality agenda including working with the Integrated Care System (ICS), CQC and NHSE, Local Authority, Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) and other provider organisations.

In summary, key elements of responsibility within the portfolio of the post of Associate Director Quality include:

A core part of the Trust’s quality management system which includes quality planning, quality control, quality assurance, and quality improvement.
Lead the production of the Quality Account ensuring wide ranging involvement and coproduction, confirmation of quality priorities and reporting against nationally mandated indicators.
Provide professional visible leadership which inspires, motivates, empowers and embeds quality improvement across the whole Trust.

Lead and support the development of a culture of continuous improvement in patient care, driven by patients and carers.

  • • Master’s degree or equivalent level of practical experience
  • • Further specialist training equivalent to post graduate doctorate in quality surveillance, governance and clinical effectiveness

Experience

  • • Significant experience as a clinician/social worker operating at a senior clinical level
  • • Significant experience of management and leadership in a complex clinical environment.
  • • Expert knowledge of mental health/or community physical health clinical services.
  • • Successful track record of clinical practice and clinical supervision of nursing practice
  • • Experience of effective partnership working with a range of agencies and stakeholders.
  • • Experience of presenting to large forums and chairing in sub board level committee meetings.
  • • Experience of providing specialist advice, when required.
  • • Broad experience in large multi-site, mutli disciplinary complex clinical settings.
  • • Developing policies and strategies
  • • Experience of complex case, quality review and investigation management.
  • • Experience leading and influencing across a wide range of clinical staff.
