The trust is seeking a Part Time (6 PA) Speciality Doctor to work within the Nottinghamshire Community Perinatal Psychiatry team.
The team provides outpatient perinatal psychiatry input to the Nottinghamshire and Bassetlaw region. The successful applicant will join a multidisciplinary team that is committed to working with women and their babies in the perinatal period who have a serious mental illness or are at risk of developing a serious mental illness. The post holder will have the opportunity to develop his/her career further depending on current competencies, interests of the post holder and the clinical needs of the service.
Main duties of the job
· -Assessment and diagnosis of women in pregnancy and up to two years post-partum
· -Management of moderate to severe mental illnesses in pregnancy and up to one year postpartum/extending to two as above and for women at risk of relapse of moderate to severe mental illness in perinatal period
· -Use of the Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation where clinically appropriate
· -Psychiatric review in clinic of patients who are on the caseload of a CPN
· -Psychiatric involvement in CPA reviews
· -Use rating tools and/or outcome measures that it has been agreed the team will use
· -Child Protection Proceedings where appropriate including writing reports on patients the post holder has seen and attendance at Child Protection Conferences where appropriate
· -Clinical audit
· -The opportunity to develop teaching skills if the candidate shows an aptitude and interest in teaching
· -Telephone advice to other healthcare professionals including GPs, Obstetricians, Health Visitors, Midwives, Social Workers and Mental Health Professionals from other teams.
· -Cross cover for the CT3 and/or SAS doctor within the team may be required which would involve supporting the 8 bedded mother and baby unit at Greenhaven, Hopewood

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
· To participate in annual appraisal processes.
· To undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of patients.
· To attend and participate in the academic programme of the Trust, including lectures and seminars as part of the internal CPD programme.
· To maintain professional registration with the General Medical Council, if applicable Mental Health Act Section 12(2) approval, and to abide by professional codes of conduct.
· To participate annually in a job plan review with the clinical manager, which will include consultation with a relevant manager to ensure that the post is developed to consider changes in service configuration and delivery associated with modernisation.
· To work with local managers and professional colleagues in ensuring the efficient running of services and share with consultant colleagues in the medical contribution to management.
· To comply with the Trust’s agreed policies, procedures, standing orders and financial instructions.
· To comply with Trust Mandatory training requirements.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
Desirable criteria
- Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management
- MRCPsych
- Additional clinical qualifications
- Experience in Perinatal Psychiatry or General Adult Mental Health Services
Eligibility
Essential criteria
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice at the time of appointment
- Completed at least 2 years’ full time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis)
Desirable criteria
- In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
Transport
Essential criteria
- Holds and will use valid UK driving licence OR provides evidence of proposed alternative.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
