Multi Professional Approved Clinician/Trainee

Band 8c

Trosolwg o'r swydd

We have an amazing new opportunity for experienced mental health practitioners with professional backgrounds as a clinical psychologist, mental health nurse, social worker or occupational therapist to train and work as Approved and Responsible Clinicians in Mental Health Acute Inpatient Services.

These are newly created training posts that are attached to permanent acute inpatient posts and have been developed as part on an ongoing agenda to promote new roles within the Trust. The training posts have been banded at an 8c (Agenda for change) pay grade with this banding increasing to 8d (AfC) when trainees achieve their Approved Clinician status and start to work autonomously in this role.

It is expected that applicants will be motivated to achieve Approved Clinician status within 1 year of being appointed, and the training posts are offered on a full-time basis to support this. Permanent posts are also offered on a full-time basis to enable the role to be established and embedded in the MDT, and within this there will be scope for successful applicants to continue to develop or use specialist areas of profession-related interest.

Successful applicants will initially work under the supervision of existing MPACs and medical ACs as they build the skills and confidence required to develop a role that enables them to autonomously deliver the AC/RC role alongside making best use existing professional skills and expertise that they bring with them. They will receive support to develop and submit a portfolio to the Regional Approvals Panel and following achieving AC approval will be supported to implement this role independently overseeing a clinical caseload and making use of their professional expertise, along with optimising that of the wider MDT, to ensure the provision of high-quality care for patients. The successful candidate will provide leadership, consultation, and advice to the ward and wider service-related areas, provide specialist input associated with their professional background, and develop research/service evaluations in relation to their service.  These posts will help develop flexibility within acute inpatient care and aim to promote person-centred, safe, effective, and compassionate care to all those accessing these services. As the Responsible Clinician for patient care, you will lead, coordinate, and ensure effective delivery of care and will complete all statutory duties required for patients, whilst also bringing your professional expertise to this work.
