Job overview

The Estates Team at Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to join our Mental Health, Community and Corporate services Estates Team as a Multiskilled Maintenance Specialist (Electrical Biased). The role is stimulating and demanding and attracts a salary between £29,970 to £36,483 plus an additional payment of £5,000 Recruitment and Retention Premium plus on-call allowance.

Main duties of the job

You will be based at Duncan Macmillan House Nottingham Trust HQ. Daily you will start work from home operating as a mobile Multiskilled Maintenance Specialist receiving your work on a handheld device from the Estates and Facilities Helpdesk and Team Leader. You will be expected to organise your daily workload ensuring you complete the tasks in the given priorities and will work unsupervised using own professional knowledge, experience, and training. You will need to demonstrate excellent attention to detail, within strict procedures to maintain safety and have excellent customer/communication skills.

The role requires a very diverse range of activities and as such will provide a great opportunity for you to use a wide range of skills. The role covers all sites serviced by our Mental Health Estates Team and you will be provided with a Trust vehicle and stock to carry out your duties.

The Estates Team provides planned and reactive maintenance and emergency call-out services 24/7, 365 days a year to circa 96 buildings across Nottinghamshire.

Normal working hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm. There is also the opportunity to participate in an on-call rota which provides potential for additional earnings.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The preferred candidate will demonstrate previous experience, gained ideally with a maintenance team within a Healthcare environment. However, candidates with experience gained within a commercial setting will also be considered, subject to the demonstration of strong transferable skills. You should be able to demonstrate strong electrical skills along with ideally a City and Guilds/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in electrical craft.

  • Knowledge of procedures for installation of estates services equipment; acquired through ONC/HNC/ HND plus relevant experience to graduate, professional level or equivalent training and experience
  • Relevant Industry standard qualifications e.g. 18th Edition
  • Completed craft apprenticeship or recognised training with significant experience
  • Health and Safety qualification

  • Experience of working on a range of electrical systems, plant and equipment
  • Experience of undertaking installation, testing, fault diagnosis, repair and servicing of electrical plant, equipment and buildings
  • Working at heights knowledge
  • Computer/keyboard skills and knowledge of IT software such as Microsoft Excel/Word
  • Experience of working as a qualified Technician on own or as part of team
  • Experience of undertaking risk assessments and operating safe working practices
  • Experience of costing and planning new works and supervising contracts
  • Experience of operating permits to work and safe isolation procedures
  • Working to deadlines and able to prioritise service delivery

  • Experience of mechanical systems H & V + A & C, and BMS controls
  • Experience of large Facilities organisations and the delivery of both hard and soft FM Services

  • Understanding of facilities services and their delivery
  • Advanced knowledge of core trade and good working knowledge of other relevant trade(s)
  • A working knowledge of computer applications and planned maintenance systems
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety, industry regulations, guidance and working practices as it appertains to the sphere of work
  • Advanced practical and theoretical knowledge and understanding of the mechanical, electrical and electronic systems in buildings
