Clinical Specialist Dietitian

This is a great opportunity for an experienced and skilled Specialist Dietitian to join a well developed and expert eating disorder service to offer and develop dietetic provision within Nottinghamshire Community Eating Disorder team. The post holder will work clinically across the service that cover Nottinghamshire (Mansfield, Ashfield, Newark, Sherwood, Bassetlaw, Nottingham South and City).
This is an exciting role and will mean the post holder joins a network of dietitians working with Eating Disorder Services and Mental Health, Learning Disability & Forensic settings within the Trust.

The post holder will work as a fully autonomous practitioner whilst working in collaboration and having the support of the MDT. You will work within the Nottinghamshire Eating Disorder Service to ensure continuity and consistency of dietetic care for patients with a range of eating disorders. This will involve providing nutritional and dietetic information, clinical advice and direct therapeutic support.
Alongside this the role will also be offering consultation, training, liaison and advice to colleagues and the wider network.
You will be supported by the Trust's dietetic professional lead and Dietetic peers within the service.
A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post; however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.

The role requires a high level of clinical and professional expertise in order that clients and their carers benefit from a well-coordinated pro-active, specialist, efficient and effective Dietetic treatment. The service includes individually tailored therapy and management, training, advice and a consultative approach. Input is predominantly on a one-on-one basis but consultation and training may be provided to train staff as required.

Qualifications

- Degree in Dietetics or equivalent Post Graduate Diploma
- Master’s degree or equivalent experience of the nutritional needs of young people/adults with a significant eating disorder.
- Health Care Professionals Council registration
- Registration with BDA

- Specialist qualification in psychological therapies (e.g. systemic family work, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, CBT-E, DBT, etc)
- Relevant post graduate experience in AMH or Eating Disorders
Training

- Evidence of attendance on specialist short courses and advanced training in clinical specialist areas

- Training in clinical supervision
Skills

- Physical skills required to manage challenging behaviour in line with Trust policies, including Therapeutic Management of Violence and Aggression training
- Highly developed auditory and perceptual skills in the assessment diagnosis and treatment of service users
- IT skills, including the use of nutritional analysis package Diet Plan and specialist computer databases • Excellent verbal and written
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated through writing, planning, evaluating and presenting papers, teaching, audits, policies and guidelines

- Highly specialist knowledge of mental health & eating disorders including ARFID

- Knowledge of how key strategies, policies & legislation (e.g. NHS Long Term Plan, Future in Mind, Children’s Act, Mental Health Act, Delivering With Delivering Well) are located in a wider strategic picture of child health and wellbeing.
Experience

- Has a comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation such as the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and can link legislation to clinical practice
- Extensive experience in assessment, formulation and provision of evidence-based interventions and nutritional treatment plans for people with eating disorders, disordered eating behaviour and associated co-morbidities, ensuring practice is in line with professional codes of conduct
- Experience of working with people with a wide range of mental health problems
- Extensive experience of risk assessment and management
- Experience providing consultation
- Able to plan and adapt service delivery in light of research, client feedback, service provision and organisational demands.
- Able to plan, organise and prioritise clinical caseload based on clinical risk, assists junior colleagues in management of their caseloads as appropriate. Can use clinical judgement to inform the need for case conferences and can arrange as appropriate.
- Able to lead on and contribute to business plans relating to dietetic provisions within CAMHS
