Applications are invited for the above post at the Queen's Medical Centre campus of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust from March 2025 for 6-12months. The successful applicant will work in the Orthopaedic Trauma unit at the Queen's Medical Centre Campus, which is the busiest Major Trauma Centre in the United Kingdom. Queens Medical Centre hosts the East Midlands Major Trauma Centre likely serves a population within the East Midlands region of England estimated to be around 4.8 million people.

Main duties of the job
The post is designed to support the successful candidate to bridge the gap between higher surgical training and a substantive consultant appointment, with a significant trauma element. Daytime responsibilities include supporting trauma operating theatres, fracture clinics and on-call duties. The department offers all aspects of complex orthopaedic trauma surgery, including limb reconstruction, orthothoracic trauma surgery and pelvic and acetabular surgery.
Main Duties of this job:
- In-patient accountabilities require assessment and management of emergency referrals for injured patients from the Emergency Department along with other route of admission (from clinic or direct transfer) under the direction of responsible consultant
- Routine ward responsibilities, transfer and discharge summaries, and operating theatre duties are a key component of the Senior Trauma Fellow role
- Out-patient responsibilities will include orthopaedic fracture clinics
- Teaching medical and other students as required
- To undertake audit and other quality improvement projects to enhance the delivery of care
- To get involved in research leading to publication

Qualifications:
Essential criteria
- GMC full registration
- MB BS or Equivalent
Experience
Essential criteria
- At least 4 years experience in Orthopaedics Complete or approaching completion of SpR Training.
- Recent experience with UK Hospital practices and systems
Teaching
Essential criteria
- Evidence of interest in and clear commitment to teaching and have experience in undergraduate or postgraduate teaching.
Research/Publications:
Essential criteria
- Evidence of previous research interest
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of contribution to published research
