Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague specialising in Neurointervention to join an established team of 17 Neuroradiologists at NUH (including five INRs). We are extremely busy regional INR centre providing cover for approx. 4 million population. On an average we perform 280-300 neurointervention cases and around 130-150 MT each year. The INR department is actively involved in various research activities. We are have already concluded our randomised controlled trial (ProFate trial) currently recruiting patient in international multicentre trial (ESCAPE MeVO).
There is plan to further expand the Neurointerventional team with a view to develop a 24/7 mechanical thrombectomy (MT) service for hyperacute stroke in 2024. The NUH interventional neuroradiology team undertakes a wide range of diagnostic interventional procedures pertaining to Neurosciences, Spinal and Head & Neck specialties. There is an active academic department headed by two Neuroradiology Professors of the Department of Radiological Sciences.
The Department of Diagnostic Imaging is part of the Diagnostics & Clinical Support Division, the largest Directorate within the organisation.
Main duties of the job
A full range of Neurosciences and Head and Neck emergency and elective patients are admitted to Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and the appointee will be responsible for the management of those patients admitted under his/her care.
Provision with Consultant colleagues of a comprehensive elective and emergency neurointervention service.
Provision of reciprocal cover for periods of leave.
Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge and the proper functioning of the department.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
As part of our response to the COVID pandemic, all consultant radiologists will have the option of having a home reporting workstation facilitating remote working days, insourcing and on-call reporting
The post holder will be expected to participate in under-graduate and post-graduate teaching and training and there will be opportunities for research working with the Biomedical Research Centre and Sir Peter Mansfield Imaging Centre at the University of Nottingham.
Candidates must hold the Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists or an equivalent qualification, and must either be on the GMC Specialist Register, or within 6 months of anticipated receipt of a CCT / CESR at the time of interview.
An appropriate period of experience with specialist diagnostic techniques and interventional training is desirable, as is a track record in research.

- Full Registration with GMC
- Eligible to be included on the specialist register
- CCT expected within 6 months of interview date
Clinical Skills/Experience
Essential criteria
- Completed radiology training program
- Evidence of technical skills as described in the job description
- Documented evidence of experience in performing and reporting abdominal studies
Desirable criteria
- Specific training in patient safety and/or human factors
Management Skills
Essential criteria
- Experience of change management
Personal Skills/Qualities

- Able to work flexibly in a changing health service
- Able to teach and support junior staff effectively.
Teaching Audit and Research
Essential criteria
- Evidence of participation in Clinical Audit
Desirable criteria
- Track record in radiology research preferably with the original publications related to Thoracic Radiology
Practical Requirements
Essential criteria
- Ability to travel between City Hospital Campus and Queen’s Medical Centre campus
- Ability to return immediately to NUH to provide on-call duties
