Gervis Pearson Ward are looking to recruit  a full time  Band 5 Staff Nurse to join the team. You will be joining a diverse and motivated team that is dedicated to the development of specialist clinical skills and the delivery of high quality safe patient care.  We are an 18 bed male oncology ward specialising in palliative care, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, iodine and treating patients with the side effects of their cancer.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

We are looking to recruit UK NMC Registered Nurses.

You will receive a comprehensive Oncology induction programme lead by our Clinical Nurse Educator, which includes attending the 3 Day Cancer Care course and  2 Day SACT course to assist the completion of the UKONS SACT Competency passport.

There will be further opportunity to develop clinical skills in Venepuncture, Cannulation and ECG’s.

Person specification

NMC Registered

Essential criteria
  • Current level one NMC registration
  • Competent in medicines management
  • Possession of a Mentoring Course
  • Diploma in health / nursing related studies
  • Competent at intravenous administration of medications with at least two years’ experience
Desirable criteria
  • Degree in health / nursing related studies
  • Evidence of Continuing professional development

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in an acute hospital environment
  • Experience of delivering nursing care to a group of patients
Desirable criteria
  • Demonstrate an involvement in link nurse, or project work
  • Chemotherapy trained

Communciation

Essential criteria
  • Good verbal and written skills
  • Demonstrate competent role-related IT skills
Desirable criteria
  • Demonstration of team working and ability to work within a team

  • Able to plan and manage own workload
