Job overview

We are looking for a consultant obstetrician to join our maternity team, who has an interest in diabetes care. 

We have a variety of specialist clinics (both scan and non-scan) including: mental health, vulnerable service users, asylum seekers, twins, preterm birth, small baby and Rainbow. The services are multi-professional, including our specialist midwives.

The general obstetric commitments include both routine and emergency obstetrics and non-resident on call (for obstetrics only).The key clinical requirements of the post are to provide consultant labour suite cover, elective caesarean lists, ward rounds, maternity triage, assessment unit cover and antenatal clinics.

Person specification

Professional Registration

Essential criteria
  • Full GMC registration MRCOG
  • Relevant CCT or equivalent
  • Entry onto the GMC specialist register or eligibility for entry within 6 months

Clinical Skills/Experience

Essential criteria
  • Clinical training and experience in general obstetrics and gynaecology equivalent to that required for a UK CCST
Desirable criteria
  • Specific training in communication skills

Professional Qualifications/Development

Essential criteria
  • ATSM in Advanced Labour Ward Practice
Desirable criteria
  • ATSM in high risk pregnancy

Management & Administrative skills

Essential criteria
  • Good leadership skills
  • Evidence of completion of an audit cycle or quality improvement project
