Therapy Support Worker

Band 3

Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for a part time (22.5hours per week) Band 3 Therapy Support Worker to join our multidisciplinary team providing neuro rehabilitation within our specialist neuro rehab out patient team based at Nottingham City Hospital.  This is for a 6 month secondment or fixed term contract.

An enthusiasm to work with patients with neurological conditions is essential, along with excellent time management skills, self-motivation and flexibility to meet the changing demands of the service.  As well as hands on rehabilitation, the support worker assists the team with administrative tasks. Being computer literate with a willingness to learn the use of a range of hospital ICT systems would also be important in this role.

We are looking for someone who has previous experience of working in a rehabilitation or care setting, who is enthusiastic, compassionate and committed to delivering outstanding patient care.  This is a close multidisciplinary team whereby the support worker will assist the delivery of both Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy rehabilitation programmes.   You will be supported to achieve this through an in service training programme and joint clinical work to gain competencies to work across both therapies.

Main duties of the job

In addition to the points below, please familiarise yourself with the full job description and person specification documents attached to this advert.

The successful candidate will have a passion for delivering patient centred care and a desire to support patients in maximising their independence.

You will work alongside the occupational therapist to help patients improve their ability to carry out a wide range of activities of daily living (ADL).   You will work alongside the physiotherapist to help patients to improve their ability to move and to balance and to walk where this is possible.  The therapy support worker will implement rehabilitation plans designed for each patient according to their needs.   You will work alongside the multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of rehabilitation for patients, as well as delegated admin duties.

The successful applicant will receive a comprehensive induction and regular supervision within supportive and caring teams, as well as being supported to learn and continuously develop through in-service training. You will actively participate in service improvement, training, supervision and  appraisal to develop your skills.

Some interventions will be conducted at a patient's home and therefore access to a car and a full driving licence are essential.
