Job overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Interventional Radiology Department. The post holder will work as part of a team of Patient Flow Coordinators. Managing patient flow at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, in accordance with Government Access Targets and Trust Patient Access Policy and Procedure. The post holder will also ensure that there is efficient and effective use of available resources at all times.
The post holder will play a key central role within the services and will be required to work in close liaison with consultants, wards and the theatre teams, NHS colleagues, patients and the general public.
Main duties of the job
· Greet patients attending the theatres, checking that all personal details are correct and if necessary amended in Careflow/PAS/CRIS/Bluespier
· To have an overall understanding of what patients are waiting for and proactively address delays by liaising with the relevant referring ward/area
· Have an awareness of capacity within each theatre to ensure patient flow in each area is as smooth as possible and reduce situations of patient build-up and conversely poor utilisation of the theatres
· Take responsibility for answering hospital calls regarding in-patients to a central Radiology number including calls from referring clinicians and give proactive advice, problem solving and escalating as appropriate. This will include reorganisation of existing workload on a frequent basis in response to queries received from consultants, registrars and external clients.
· Place patients onto Nerve Centre Portering and contact the porters to discuss any patients that do not attend within 30 minutes of requested time. Escalate to IR nurse co-ordinator. Assists the co-ordinator to ensure the radiology patient movement team are available at the right time to maintain patient flow and co-ordinates their break times accordingly.
· Works alongside the Radiology Bronze in regards to inpatient escalations to IR.

Training & Qualifications
Essential criteria
- GCSE English and Maths at Grade C or equivalent
- Experience in Microsoft Office
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of hospital computer systems, i.e. Careflow PAS, CRIS, NOTIS, Bluespier
- Keyboard Skills
Experience

- Experience of working in reception environment
- Experience of customer services/dealing with the public - F2F or telephone
Desirable criteria
- Previous Call Centre / Booking office experience
- Previous experience of working in the NHS in a patient facing role
