We are looking for a dynamic, experienced and collaborative individual to join us as an Advanced Analyst within our Information & Insight department. The post will work in our Performance and Reporting team within the Information & Insight service. You will work closely with other analytical colleagues, Corporate and Divisional teams across NUH to:
- To support the testing and rebuild of reporting for our Electronic Patient Record (EPR) programme.
- Deliver a co-ordinated high quality, relevant and timely information service.
- To undertake, maintain and develop regular and ad hoc reports using a broad range of tools and techniques, and to provide detailed advice, support and guidance to clients.
- You will have excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills with a proactive “can do” attitude. A high degree of accuracy and an eye for detail is a must.
- As a member of the Information & Insight service you will be expected to respond promptly to urgent requests and deadlines accurately and thrive working under pressure in a fast-moving environment. Understand and interpret highly complex information and analytical requirements, assess the purpose for which outputs are required and support, develop and deliver appropriate solutions using various information query tools and languages.
Maintain and develop understanding of the range of sources of data both within and outside the organisation.
Analyse data for a wide range of clients, determining the best form for communicating/presenting the information, from simple to highly complex and ensuring that the presentation is relevant, comprehensible and conforms to agreed timescales with the client.
Develop, maintain and utilise in depth specialist knowledge of statistical and analytical tools and techniques including being the Trust lead in certain tools.
Develop, maintain and utilise an understanding of NHS datasets and the use of information across the NHS
Develop, maintain and utilise knowledge of existing NHS and health performance, measurement and reporting frameworks e.g. CQC Intelligent Monitoring
Develop, maintain and utilise knowledge of local and national developments in relation to health information and systems and act as an initial point of contact/expertise for all issues within certain domains.

Lead on specific external data flows as required ensuring timely accurate documented flows are established and maintained.
Conduct user acceptance testing and rebuild of reporting for our Electronic Patient Record (EPR) programme.

Determine with stakeholders where analytical activities will need to be turned into ongoing / periodic solutions requiring new reporting flows not just one off analysis.
To maintain knowledge of different data collection, collation and reporting options within the Trust that can play a role in regular reporting.
To scope options for delivery where ongoing reporting is needed.
To lead on delivery of certain reporting solutions within the remit of the Analysis team
Where others need to lead on developing reporting solutions to contribute learning from analysis activities.

- Masters or above in relevant fields e.g. informatics, analysis, statistics or operational research
Experience

- • Proven experience working within an Information or analysis role
- • Detailed analysis & validation of various types of data to inform assessment of performance of complex organisations and to help identify opportunities for improvement.
- • Highly developed specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and experience in using statistical & analytical techniques and information analysis, acquired though degree level or equivalent plus additional specialist knowledge acquired through post graduate diploma level / or equivalent relevant experience
- • Very high level of computer literacy & technical competence – including understanding of a range of additional data analysis querying tools (e.g. MS SQL etc)
- • Experience in developing tools using Business Intelligence software (e.g. Qlikview, SSRS)• Experience in developing tools using Business Intelligence software (e.g. Qlikview, SSRS)

- • Experience of developing and maintaining code using R
- • Experience of using Git to collaboratively develop and maintain code.
- • Detailed knowledge & understanding of Health Informatics – including healthcare datasets (particularly secondary care), data quality, national strategic control mechanisms for data management, definitional guidance & data protection
- • Experience in a service improvement setting using a range of service improvement and quality management tools.
- • Experience in an acute hospital setting
