Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 nurse to join our established team within Antenatal Clinic across both City and QMC campus to promote and deliver the National Vaccination programme for Seasonal Flu, Pertussis, RSV with Covid for the future. 

The successful candidate will take an active role in promoting the uptake of pertussis, RSV, Covid and flu vaccinations in pregnancy and to undertake work to overcome barriers to vaccination. 

You will work with the midwifery team to build vaccine confidence within the pregnant women attending the antenatal clinics. 

The role will also include health promotion and providing language appropriate vaccine resource's and also address health inequalities. 

This post includes weekend work to cover our Saturday clinic. 

This post is a six month fixed term contract or six month secondment for NUH employees.

Training and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse with the NMC
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Evidence of continuing professional
  • Completion of Season flu training
  • Completion of Covid 19 training
  • Competent in immunisation training
  • Training and knowledge of RSV vaccine
Desirable criteria
  • BSc qualification
  • Experience in teaching

Expereince

Essential criteria
  • Experience at Band 5 or equivalent
  • Competent in complex clinical skills
  • Displays clinical expertise and provides support to others
  • Knowledge of the National Vaccination programme
Desirable criteria
  • Previous vaccination experience i.e. Flu Campaign, occupational health vaccinations
  • Experience in vaccination programme
  • Experience in more than one speciality

Communication and relationship skills

  • Able to utilise multiple hospital IT systems
  • Displays strong personal presence, natural authority and confidence
  • Can effectively use a variety of communication skills

  • Has experience in participate of audit Is able to co-ordinate the clinical area in order to meet patient needs

Physical skills

  • Capable of using equipment within the working environment
  • Ability to complete various nursing duties
  • Dexterity and accuracy in undertaking clinical skills
