An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Estates Operations officer – Project Support at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust to join our busy Estates & Facilities Management Team.

They will be responsible for the provision of a highly developed specialist service, technical and administrative advice and to support to the Head of Estates (Operations), and to also liaise with all estates personnel within the maintenance function of the Directorate.

The appointed candidate will act as a facilitator role between the Capital and Estates Operations teams, assisting in the successful delivery of multiple capital projects including new builds and major refurbishments in accordance with the agreed timescales, budgets and quality standards.

To provide highly specialist technical support and advice to the Capital Project Managers and Estates Operations Managers as required.

To provide detailed advice and support on record keeping for legislative compliance.

Ensure advance notice for Mechanical and Electrical isolations to the Estates Operations teams.

Identify and explain technical issues to ensure projects achieve the proposed timeframe.

There is an expectation that the post-holder will work at any one time on a number of projects (site specific), which could be at different stages, each of which could be highly complex and sensitive, working closely with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders from different disciplines including senior managers, clinicians, design consultants and contractors.

To assist with the collection and collation of information and records and to implement policies and procedures of the Trust and Directorate to ensure the delivery of an effective maintenance service at acceptable levels of risk.

To ensure that the Trust is not exposed to risk of litigation through actions or in actions of the teams.

Ensure a smooth handover transition from Capital projects to operational maintenance.

Main responsibilities include having a broad knowledge of specialist disciplines to support the following technical site wide services as required by the Head of Estates (Operations):

 Legionella management

 Medical Gas Pipeline Services

 Industrial and specialist gases

 Electrical systems

 Water Services

 Natural Gas Systems

 Steam plant and systems

 Sterilisers

 Pneumatic tube systems

Pressure systems

Lifts and lifting equipment

Have an understanding of the stages of a capital project to ensure the correct information is available in a timely manner.

Provide specialist and professional operational maintenance expertise and advice to senior management of the Trust.

Understand and explain local policies and procedures to the capital team, their contractors and end-user where required.

Provide reports on project progress, isolations, derogations etc. to the required technical groups.

To manage and prioritise own workload and provide specialist advice in relation to Operational maintenance and specific local procedures.

Training & Qualifications

  • A professional qualification in an engineering discipline.

  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent
  • Membership of a Professional Institution eg., CIBSE; IHEEM; IFE; IFSM; IRM
  • Evidence of continuing professional development in Healthcare Estates Management

Experience

  • Significant experience of estate management.
  • Significant experience in construction project and contract management.
  • Good knowledge of the following - BMS, Fire Alarms, MGPS, HVAC, Sterilisers, Asbestos, Potable and Process Water quality, LPHW, DHW & CW Systems, Steam Plant & Systems, Firecode, Sanitary Systems, Building Regulations, Understanding the principles and application of risk assessment, CDM Regulations, Confined Spaces Regulations.

  • Knowledge of the Following HTM's - Decontamination, MGPS, Specialised Ventilation for Healthcare, Water Systems/Legionella, Fire, LV Electrical Systems, HV Electrical Safety, Lifts, Bed Head Services, Making Energy work in Healthcare, Renal Water Systems.
  • Construction methods and specifications for fabrics and finishes.
  • Fire Safety Precautions.
