Specialty General Manager - Endoscopy & Bowel Cancer Screening

Band 8a

Job overview

The Surgery Division is advertising for a Specialty General Manager to lead the Endoscopy and Bowel Cancer Screening Service at NUH. The service spans across the Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham Treatment Centre, Nottingham City Hospital and some Bowel Cancer Screening elements at Sherwood Forest Hospitals.

Endoscopy and Bowel Cancer Screening are within the Digestive Diseases Directorate alongside Colorectal, Gastroenterology, HPB, Upper GI, Endocrine Surgery & General Surgery; building strong relationships and pathways across each of these teams is key to Endoscopy and Bowel Cancer Screening providing a successful service for patients.

This is an exciting time to join the service, with a recent £10million investment to develop a JAG compliant and tertiary cancer endoscopy unit at the QMC site later in 2024. The SGM will be heavily involved in this project, providing an excellent opportunity to shape the future of the service.

Main duties of the job

As SGM you will be responsible and accountable for the operational management and performance of the specialties, providing strong visible leadership in partnership with the Head of Service and Nursing Leads, driving through ambitious targets to continually improve operational and financial performance. This will be a high profile role and would suit a highly experienced service manager looking to develop into an SGM post or an existing SGM wanting to gain experience in another specialty.

Bowel Cancer Screening provides an opportunity to with NHSEngland and other hospitals and to be involved in writing business cases and bids for future expansion of the screening pathways.
