Clinical Nurse Practitioner

Band 6

Job overview

The role is based in the ENT Outpatient Department with some additional duties in the Surgical Triage Unit on Ward C32, working independently but also supporting the ENT junior doctor on call.

To succeed in this role you will need to be driven, dynamic and have a minimal requirement for line management. You will be expected to work autonomously; to be ambitious for development to an Advanced Clinical Practitioner post would be advantageous. Possession of a non-medical prescribing qualification would be advantageous, but not essential for appointment.

As a Clinical Nurse Practitioner you will be responsible for independently delivering a high standard of care to your patient group.

Main duties of the job

The role will comprise delivering ENT care across the specialty pathway. This will include a large portion in the ENT emergency service in both the ENT department and the Surgical Triage Unit. The role will also comprise working in and developing routine nurse-led clinics across the specialty.

The successful candidate will need to have a thorough understanding of the Ear, Nose, Throat and Head and Neck cancer specialty. As the role develops the post holder will become more involved in role development potentially leading to minor surgical procedures.

There will also be an expectation to participate in audits and the governance process of the department.
