We have an opportunity for an experienced Receptionist to join the practice team. For this role we are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and committed individual with a proven record of delivering exceptional customer service in a general practice environment. Accuracy and attention to detail are key to this role.

The working pattern for this post is Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 1430-2030 (GP+, Angel Row) 

Main duties of the job

· Manage the reception desk ensuring surgeries run smoothly and efficiently

· Receive patients and visitors courteously and efficiently

· Processing appointment requests by telephone or in person

· Actioning any queries for repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines

· To provide point of contact for patients and to act as a focal point of communication between, patients, doctors, and other members of the Primary Health Care Teams.

· Taking requests for home visits and ensuring they are recorded and processed correctly

· Liaising with hospitals, primary health care teams, social services etc.

· Entering computer data updating patient records

· Opening and closing the practice as and when necessary ensuring the reception, office and consulting rooms are prepared in readiness for the morning session

· Working in accordance with written protocols

· Completing any tasks allocated by managers or GPs.

· Attending team training events as part of ongoing development and training

· Assisting in opening and distribution of post if needed

· Attending protected learning time sessions when required

· Registering patients as per the practice’s policy and procedures

· Taking a lead role in a specialised area as part of ongoing personal developed as allocated by the practice manager

All staff are required to be flexible and take their share of providing cover, when necessary for colleagues who may be absent due to holidays or illness.

Nottingham City General Practice Alliance (NCGPA) was formed in 2016. We are Nottingham city's first GP Federation, often referred to as NCGPA or the Alliance. Our members consist of 45 NHS GP practices in Nottingham city, who cover a population of over 336,000 patients. We are the lead employer for our PCN based roles such as Clinical Pharmacists, Social Prescribing Link Workers and Health and Wellbeing Coaches.

NCGPA is a Company Limited by shares, with its member practices being equal shareholders. The company is managed by a board of 8 elected representatives from member GP practices and three co-opted positions representing nursing, lay and non-principal GPs. The day to day running of the company is through a Senior Management team comprising the Chair, Secretary and Treasurer along with the Company's Chief Operating Officer and a dedicated office team. Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Good standard of education with at least level 3 qualifications including GCSE at English and Maths (or equivalent levels of qualifications)
Desirable criteria
  • General level of education to A-Level standard or equivalent

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of administrative management practices and procedures

Skills and Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a range of different audiences
  • Time management skills and ability to multi-task Proficient in all areas of Microsoft Office
