Security Team Leader Training
Band 3
Job overview
The key responsibilities include the design of training programs, facilitation of training sessions, evaluation of training effectiveness, and provision of individualized mentorship to personnel within the Security, Car Parking, and Access Control services. The objective is to cultivate a workforce that is proficient, self-assured, and compliant with the organisation's policies and procedures. A primary focus of the training role is to provide a tailored program for the hospital team known as ‘Positive Behavioural Support’ (PBS), along with the development of a specialised departmental training curriculum aimed at addressing the learning and development needs of both new starters and current staff.
In the absence of the Security Shift Team Leader due to annual leave or illness, the role may occasionally require you to assist in delivering a uniformed specialist service and to lead a team across various departmental functions. This includes ensuring that patients, visitors, and staff receive guidance and that a safe and secure environment is maintained in accordance with legal requirements, particularly during emergency situations, which involves key security responsibilities.
A critical aspect of this position involves managing situations with challenging patients, visitors, and staff, especially in difficult scenarios such as smoking violations, abusive behaviour, car parking incidents, and the presence of unwelcome visitors. The Trust has established policies and guidelines for the prevention and management of violent and abusive conduct, and this role will require you to support the implementation of these agreed-upon techniques.
The post holder will be expected to regularly work across the two main NUH sites, with the flexibility to operate at any NUH location as directed.
Main duties of the job
In addition to the summary provided below, it is essential to review the complete Job Description and Person Specification documents attached to this advertisement.
Your responsibilities include ensuring that Security staff remain current with their training and that the administrative aspects of the role are effectively managed in compliance with Trust policies and procedures. This is vital for maintaining the safety and security of all individuals and properties at Nottingham University Hospitals Trust, as well as fostering a secure environment that minimizes the fear of crime. You will also oversee the duties and conduct of the Security Officers and CCTV Operators during their shifts, which may involve car parking responsibilities. This role entails recording the Officers' time and attendance in the absence of shift team leaders, as well as monitoring their appearance and equipment. Working with the Assistant Security Manager is crucial to address the team's needs during office hours.
You will be responsible for making rota adjustments and requesting relief staff outside of office hours as needed due to unforeseen operational demands (such as in response to a serious incident) or to cover for staff absences (including sickness, non-attendance, or emergency leave).
It is crucial to ensure that Security Officers are assigned duties for which they are trained and licensed, and that they conduct themselves professionally in alignment with the Trust’s values and behaviours.
