Job overview

To provide comprehensive financial business advice and information in support of the Clinical Director, General Management and Budget Holders.

To be an integral part of the Directorate Management teams. To provide financial advice to the senior finance team members on a range of issues relevant to the Directorates and the Trust as a whole. To manage and develop finance staff on a day to day basis

Main duties of the job

Roles at this level require an individual with broad business experience and the ability to lead and motivate other finance staff. A key element to the role will be to develop and disseminate best practice and to ensure professional and financial standards are delivered.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of NHS finance and business planning regimes
  • Working with computerized financial systems
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of using McKeown’s ‘integra’ General Ledger
  • Crystal reporting
  • ESR (Electronic Staff Record)

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Possess numerical and analytical skills and have the ability to assimilate and interpret data to make resultant judgements
  • Excellent written & report writing skills & have the ability to convey complex financial issues to non-finance managers
  • Able to keep abreast of developments in the Trust and the wider NHS that may impact on the department

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to problem solve and find solutions
  • Ability to communicate at a high level internally & externally
  • Able to lead and motivate a team
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet changing deadlines
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Teaching Skills for training non finance managers
