Job overview
We are seeking an assistant contract manager to work within the Mental Health, Learning Disabilities and Children and Young Persons Team.
This is a critical supporting role, to ensure the commissioning intentions of the system for mental health services are transacted into and delivered via contractual arrangements with providers. The post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across the ICB footprints, you will be motivated and enthusiastic, with a keen eye for attention to detail, as well as a proactive approach.
Please note that this vacancy is for those currently working in the N&N ICS only.
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting time to join the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Integrated Care Board (ICB), and your role is critical in ensuring our success.
You will be working closely with the Mental Health Commissioning Team to ensure the commissioning intentions of the system for mental health services are transacted into and delivered via contractual arrangements with providers, on behalf of health and social care as appropriate. Your main focus will be our largest contracts with Nottinghamshire Healthcare Trust and Vita Talking Therapies.
You will work effectively as a member of the Mental Health Team, and independently, to ensure timely and efficient facilitation of the commissioning team’s responsibilities and work programme.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- NHS contracting, commissioning and performance management experience.
- Experience and understanding of evaluating and measuring the performance of health services.
- Clear communicator with excellent writing, report writing and presentation skills.
- An ability to work on own initiative.
- That they enjoy problem solving and working at pace
The post will involve some travel across the Nottinghamshire area.

Knowledge, Training and Experience
Essential criteria
- Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level of experience of working at a similar level in specialist area
- Further training or significant experience in project management, financial management or supporting change management processes
- Experience and understanding of evaluating and measuring the performance of health services.
- Experience in communications and stakeholder management
- NHS contracting, commissioning and performance management experience.
- Experience of service change/redesign and success at delivering programmes of change
- Experience in contract management, including performance management and quality assurance
- Knowledge/ experience of standard NHS contracts, terms and conditions, schedules and contract levers
- Previous experience in similar role in public sector
- Knowledge of health and social care issues
- A good understanding of the health and social care environment and roles and responsibilities within it
Communication skills

- Clear communicator with excellent writing, report writing and presentation skills; capable of constructing and delivering clear ideas and concepts concisely and accurately for diverse audiences
