The Enhanced Support Service team is commissioned by NHS England as part of the Offender Personality Disorder Pathway and works alongside clinical & discipline staff to provide individualised assessment, care/management plans and risk assessment for a small caseload of often challenging patients.

You will be  required to input into internal and external meetings regarding the clients that are part of the ESS service. The post-holder will be a resource to staff across healthcare and the wider prison providing advice and support to the care of these service users to ensure best outcomes.

The ESS will target the small minority of prisoners in the establishment who demonstrate severe and persistent violent and disruptive behaviour that has not responded to existing strategies and interventions. Staff will work intensively with prisoners in a collaborative manner to develop motivation to facilitate better settlement, improved psychological wellbeing and in the long term, access to sentence planning services for this population. The team will work in a psychologically informed manner and be supported by formulations based on understanding of the prisoners with whom they are working. The team will work indirectly with staff to increase understanding and appropriate management of these prisoners.

The post-holder will be required to input into internal and external meetings regarding the clients that are part of the ESS service

NHFT is an integrated primary care and mental health Trust, providing physical, mental health and specialty services in both hospital settings and out in the community. Because we put the person at the centre of all we do, we focus on delivering care that is as easy to access as possible. This means many of our services can be provided at home, work or in schools. We also provide health services to various prisons and detention centres in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.

NHFT promotes a culture of learning to improve the care and safety of our patients and staff, which focuses on people who enable our Trust to be ‘outstanding’ by supporting opportunity, innovation, development and growth.
