Job overview
To work as part of clinical clerical team to support a defined team of clinicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals.
You will be working in an outpatient setting and your duties will include providing reception cover, collection, delivery and prepping medical notes dealing with incoming and outgoing post, filing, answering patient calls/enquiries and other general administrative duties.
The post holder will be required to work as part of the administration team and provide cross cover during periods of staff absence within their existing team and other teams within the Directorate as and when required. This support should be provided during the core hours of 08:30 and 17:30 and should be aligned to the Direct Clinical Care time of the Consultants for whom they support.
Main duties of the job
· Be responsible for dealing with telephone enquiries from families.
· Booking patients attendance at clinic.
· Outcoming of appointments.
· Liaising with Consultants and Secretaries as required.
· Be aware of the responsibility of all employees to maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients, visitors and staff.
· Ensure that all duties are carried out to the highest possible standard, and in accordance with current quality initiative within the area of work and the Trust’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy.
· Have a commitment to identifying and minimising risk, report all incidents and report to the manager any risks which need to be assessed.
· Any other duties commensurate with the grade and in line with the requirements of the post.

Educations, Training and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to Minimum 3 GCSE at Grade C or above incl English
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Good IT Skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Experience of working in busy office/reception environment
- Proficient in Microsoft packages including Word and Outlook
- Courteous, tactful and efficient telephone manner

- Experience of working in the NHS

Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
