Clinical/Counselling Psychologist (Preceptorship considered)

Band 7/8a

Trosolwg o'r swydd

This is an exciting opportunity to participate in the development of a developing clinical service for adults experiencing complex PTSD. This is a relatively new service in Northamptonshire in recognition of an unmet clinical need in local pathways, especially between Talking Therapies and secondary mental health services. The Complex PTSD service will both deliver specialist clinical interventions, and also promote trauma-informed approaches in the wider service and across mental health pathways.

Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation NHS Trust was rated as “Outstanding” by CQC in 2018 and is a great place to work. We are proud of the Psychology provision within the Trust, and feedback has consistently been that we have a well-developed Psychology network in the Trust which offers a strong sense of professional identity, support and strategic influence.

Psychology and psychological approaches are highly valued in the Trust, and psychologists have the opportunity to shape clinical and organisational strategy as well as provide clinical services. We believe that supporting and involving our staff means that they enjoy their work more, and that our clinical services are better as a result.

The successful applicant(s) would receive professional support and be professionally and clinically accountable to the Consultant Clinical Psychologist Service Lead for the Complex PTSD service.

*Please note provisional interview date- 9th August 2024*

We are looking for suitably qualified clinicians – ideally with some specialist clinical experience in the field of complex trauma, as well as some experience in working with complex clinical presentations in Adult Mental Health. Equally important is the ability to develop innovative practice and play a lead role in a relatively new service. You would need to contribute to the vision for this new service, work closely with partners in primary and secondary care. This will require you to exercise collaborative leadership skills within the Team and to promote the service externally. We are looking for an innovative and resilient clinician with evidenced training who can operate with confidence and credibility to play a key role in developing this new service.  Highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to influence and negotiate successfully are essential.  You will contribute to developing and monitoring the clinical outcomes and impact of the service and will have a flexible approach to changing patterns of service delivery as needed.

Gweithio i'n sefydliad

There are a significant number of psychologists employed within the Trust working across different specialties and there are excellent opportunities for professional development through regular monthly psychology meetings and active peer supervision networks. The Trust enjoys good links with both Oxford and Leicester Doctoral training courses.

We want to recruit a diverse workforce, who are values driven, compassionate and have a desire to deliver high quality care every day.

We welcome applications from people from diverse backgrounds who are under-represented in service delivery.

Northamptonshire is a pleasant area with a mix of rural and urban locations and is within easy distance of other key locations in the Midlands with excellent rail and road links.
