We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated, and compassionate midwives to join our Community and Midwifery Continuity of Carer teams. You will be joining a team of friendly and supportive midwives, providing care from our Midwifery Hubs and from patients homes, covering Northampton and surrounding villages. We are aspiring to move towards further MCoC teams and have flexible ways of working through our agile working models. We have full-time and part-time positions available in traditional community teams and MCoC.

We provide evidence-based care in the antenatal, intrapartum and postpartum period, supporting women’s choice of birthplace, including homebirths. We work collaboratively with the wider multi-disciplinary team and support our colleagues in the hospital setting.
You will be responsible for a caseload of women, running clinics within a hub setting and providing care within the home. You will have sound clinical skills, good communication and interpersonal skills. You will be supporting students on their learning journey. We offer CPD opportunities to help you achieve your career aspirations.

Provide midwifery care to women during the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal periods in all areas including woman’s home, maternity hubs and hospital settings.
As a community midwife you will be bringing continuity of care to our local families, supporting the vision of Better Births and Saving babies Lives. Working autonomously and within a team of passionate community midwives within a geographical area, supporting home births and community to have a rewarding work experience.
Promote collaborative working partnerships and effective communication between all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
To be responsible for the maintenance and development of her own clinical skills and maintain revalidation requirements. Including attendance of a yearly protected Trust mandatory training week.
Ensure professional and clinical standards are maintained and developed in response to new evidence.
Act as a professional role model for midwifery.
To observe the NMC Code of Conduct. Maintain standards of recordkeeping within the practice setting, utilising accepted standards where appropriate.
Undertake relevant clinical practices in accordance with the Scope of Professional Practice
Being a professional advocate for women and families.
Support change management and service development implementation.
Assess and teach others in the clinical setting.
Input information and have a working knowledge of the hospital and Maternity information systems.
Attend training and updates on implementation of Maternity Information System on our digital journey.
Research & development
Possess knowledge of the audit process and methods of critically appraising Research.
Demonstrate clinical competence and fitness for practice.
Involvement in clinical audit and evaluation of practice within the clinical area.
Promote and disseminate research and audit findings.
Contribute ideas and undertake monitoring with regards to quality of women centred care.
Personal skills
Maintain personal professional profile and Revalidation.
Identify and negotiate training needs, actively address these through the Trust appraisal system.
Maintain an awareness of issues relating to midwifery on the national agenda.
Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Co-ordinate the responsibilities, capabilities and workload of team members.
OTHER INFORMATION
The postholder may be required to carry out other relevant duties as required within the maternity unit.
The postholder will adhere to the duties specified under the Staff Responsibilities of the NHS.
