We have recently developed a groupwide health intelligence team providing Business Intelligence services across University Hospitals of Northamptonshire; Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust and Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.  

In the development of our groupwide Health Intelligence service, we have an opportunity for a permanent post to help mould this service.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a key part of the Health Intelligence Reporting  team, proactively engaging with colleagues and key contacts as well as a member of the senior support staff in Health Intelligence.

Responsible for supporting the production of timely and accurate reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory and contractual responsibilities, supporting decision making, and improving performance.

Collecting, analysing, and distributing routine and ad hoc reports in a timely, accurate and relevant manner to meet business requirements.

This will require skills in analysis, report creation, presentation and data collection techniques, data manipulation, interpretation, and an ability to utilise the most appropriate methods of analysis.  Integral to all of this will be data quality.

Responsible for ensuring the production and timely submission of information for monitoring activity together with those statutory returns that have been defined as pertaining to the organisation.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Educated to Masters degree level in a numerate/quantitative discipline or demonstrable equivalent experience and competencies in relevant or similar roles.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • IT, Information or statistical qualification
  • Highly developed specialist knowledge of working with health information systems, with ability to keep fully informed about emerging technology through horizon scanning and networking.
  • Knowledge of driving through change and developing an insight and analysis culture, moving from reporting the past to supporting future decision making
  • In depth knowledge of MS office, Excel, Word, Access, Outlook etc.
  • Highly developed specialist knowledge of MS SQL Business Intelligence tools.
  • Knowledge and experience of understanding user needs, seeking feedback and user research methods to improve reporting, analytics and insight delivery.
  • Demonstrate the ability to plan, organise and prioritise workload according to the demands of conflicting and unpredictable requests.
  • Experienced of developing reports in Power BI
  • Working knowledge of SSRS
  • Experience of writing SQL queries for reporting- Complex correlated queries, sub-queries
  • Working knowledge of analytic functions in SQL
  • Working knowledge and experience of SPC charts, technical data models, writing DAX queries, creating calculations and measures, bespoke functions and integrating multiple data sources in Power BI
  • Working knowledge and experience of creating and support a real-time dashboard for operational management.

  • Management qualifications.
  • Qualified at practitioner level of a recognised project management methodology
  • Working knowledge and experience in R
  • Working knowledge and experienced in python
  • Experience of working within the agile methodology
  • Extensive experience working in a Health Intelligence Role within the NHS
