Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Financial Planner to provide high quality financial planning support to an outstanding Mental Health & Community Services Foundation Trust.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, confident, flexible, hard working individual who has experience of working within management accounts and financial planning, preferably in an NHS setting.  You will need to be an excellent communicator, in both written and oral formats, to explain financial issues to non finance managers and clinicians.  The ability to work independently and know when to ask for further advice and support is also required.

 

Main duties of the job

  • To create and maintain a financial plan for both short term and long term planning.
  • To provide insight into the monthly reporting, run rate and underlying position for the organisation

The Financial Planner reports to the Deputy Director. They will build close relationships with managers across the trust in a variety of settings. Utilising their expertise to identify, collate and analyse key information from operational and support services. The post holder’s responsibilities will include; creating the national NHS operational plan, long-term plan, produce information to aid analysis between plans and in-year performance, financial process improvement, supervision of staff, year-end working papers, NHSI returns and audit queries.

  • Management accounting/financial planning experience
  • An understanding of standard accounting principles and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • An understanding of NHS finance principles
  • Complex financial modelling skills
