Job overview
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Clinical administrator to provide medical secretarial support to Consultant Psychiatrists and Non-medical prescribers within a Community Mental Health Team. The post holder will be the lead in the time management and processes that incorporate the activities of Consultant Psychiatrists and /or Non-medical Prescribers. The post holder needs to be efficient in prioritisation, time management and flexible to the needs of the service. The post holder must have the ability to use computer software and other electronical systems.
You will be the first port of call to assist the Consultant Psychiatrists and / or Non-medical prescribers in supporting them to fufill their duties.
You may be a first point of contact for service users calling into the CMHT and a friendly and helpful/responsive attitude is needed.
Main duties of the job
A range of secretarial and clerical skills will be required to support the smooth running of day-to-day operational issues for the supporting clinical teams, thus enabling a whole team approach with the aim of providing outstanding compassionate care.

Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- • Educated to GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent) in literacy and numeracy
- • RSA Level three/Speed typing qualification or demonstrable experience (min 60 wpm
- • NVQ in Administration level 3
- • Knowledge of specialist medical terminology
- • Experience of providing administration and secretarial at a senior / executive level
- • Relevant current clinical administration experience
- • Experience of working with patient information systems
- • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
Desirable criteria
- • Shorthand or speed writing
- • Previous experience of working in the NHS
- • Previous experience of Systm1
Skills and Abilities
Essential criteria
- • Ability to organise and prioritise own workload
- • Full Driving Licence and use of car (or alternative mode of transport) or ability to travel across sites if required
- • Ability to deal sensitively with service users, carers and colleagues and maintain confidentiality and exercise judgement when dealing with sensitive issues
- • Ability to work under pressure and to work to deadlines
