We are looking for people for 6 specific volunteer roles within the Trust.
• Ward Volunteer 
• A&E Volunteer (Over 18’s) 
• Response Volunteer
• Breastfeeding Peer Support (Milk and You) Volunteer
• Spiritual and Pastoral Care (Chaplaincy) Volunteer 
• Radio Volunteer

Our volunteers are an invaluable part of the hospital team. When you Volunteer with us, you help to improve patient experience through supporting staff with patient care.

Main duties of the job

Ward Volunteer - Spending time with patients providing a listening ear and engaging in friendly conversation as appropriate, demonstrate respect & sensitivity to all individuals.

A&E Volunteer (Over 18's) - Provide directional support to guide patients to the correct areas within A&E and other parts of the hospital, chat, engage with patients,  ensuring stock for staff i.e. alcohol wipes

Response Volunteer - This role will involve working across all departments, i.e. Collecting and delivering notes / swabs / medication / equipment, running errands from various departments / wards.

Spiritual and Pastoral Care (Chaplaincy) Volunteer - To complement the work of our Hospital Spiritual and Pastoral Care team, the Chaplains are 
fortunate to have a group of Spiritual and Pastoral Care volunteers who visit our wards / A&E.

Radio Volunteer - Join KGH Radio as a voluntary member, carrying out production of radio programmes, visiting wards to collect requests and participating in fund raising.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Ward Volunteer
• Spending time with patients providing a listening ear and engaging in friendly conversation as appropriate, demonstrate respect & sensitivity to all individuals.
• Chatting / Reading to patients who may not have visitors
• Helping the hostess to serve meals and deliver snacks to patients.

*This role is available Monday to Sunday between the hours of 8am-8pm.*

A&E Volunteer (Over 18’s)
• Provide directional support to guide patients to the correct areas within A&E and other parts of the hospital
• Offer food & drink if allowed
• Ensure kitchen areas are clean

*This role is available Monday to Sunday between the hours of 8am-8pm.*

Response Volunteer
• This role is based on the needs of the hospital and will involve working across all departments
• Collecting and delivering notes / swabs / medication / equipment & running errands from various departments / wards
• Providing a courtesy ‘Meet & Greet’ service (wheelchair training required)
• Operating a library service to wards

*This role is available Monday to Friday between the hours of 8.30am- 4pm.*

Spiritual and Pastoral Care (Chaplaincy) Volunteer

To complement the work of our Hospital Spiritual and Pastoral Care team, the Chaplains are fortunate to have a group of Spiritual and Pastoral Care volunteers who visit our wards / A&E. The volunteers come from a variety of local faith / belief groups and work with the chaplains to help meet the pastoral and spiritual needs of our patients. 

Radio Volunteer
Join KGH Radio, Kettering hospital’s radio station as a voluntary member. Based in Kettering General Hospital, carrying out duties and activities as directed by the Trustees of the radio station which will include but not limited to:
• Production of radio programme(s) in line with programme format
• Ward Visiting for purposes of request collecting
• Fund raising
Approximately 3 hours a week minimum commitment is required.
Full technical and presentation training is given.
