Ward VolunteerSpending time with patients, sitting and engaging in friendly. Conversation. Help and assist with hydration. Running errands for staff as and when required. Restocking.

 

Response Volunteerad hoc requests from all over the hospital to support patients, wards, and departments.

 

Clinic Support Volunteer Supporting our outpatient clinics to greet and chat with patients and visitors on arrival and during their stay providing a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. Serving drinks and supporting staff.

 

We are looking for Response & Clinic Support volunteers Monday to Friday:

AM Shift – start 8.30am and finish at 12.30pm.

PM Shift – starts 12.30am and finish at 4.30pm.

 

We are looking for Ward Volunteers:

Monday – Sunday 8am – 8pm

Our volunteers are an invaluable part of the hospital team. When you volunteer with us, you help to improve patient experience through supporting staff with patient care.

Main duties of the job

WARD VOLUNTEER

  • To greet and chat with patients or visitors on arrival and during their stay, providing a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere.
  • Spending time with patients, providing a listening ear and engaging in friendly conversation as appropriate.
  • Helping to serve for patients as appropriate under the guidance and supervision of clinical staff.

 

RESPONSE VOLUNTEER

·       Collecting and delivering notes / swabs / medication / equipment & running errands from various departments / wards

·       Providing a courtesy ‘Meet & Greet’ service (wheelchair training required)

·       Assisting with patient / family video calls on wards.

·       Operating a library service to wards

·       Visiting / chatting to patients who may not have visitors on wards.

·       Support within A&E and Pharmacy departments (over 18’s only with full training)

 

CLINIC SUPPORT VOLUNTEER

  • To greet and chat with patients or visitors on arrival and during their stay, providing a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere.
  • Making drinks for patients whilst they wait for their appointments.
  • Spending time with patients, providing a listening ear and engaging in friendly conversation as appropriate.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Ward

·       To greet and chat with patients or visitors on arrival and during their stay providing a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere.

·       Spending time with patients providing a listening ear and engaging in friendly conversation as appropriate.

·       Ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times of all details appertaining to patients, their relatives and staff.

·       Helping to serve for patients as appropriate under the guidance and supervision of clinical staff

·       Give clear and accurate information and directions and assist patients, relatives and staff. Refer patients/visitors to the appropriate member of staff if further assistance is required 

·       · To engage in any other appropriate activity under the supervision and direction of the Clinical staff.

·       · Making drinks for visitors, including the day area, and staff and wash/tidy away any used crockery/cutlery used.

·       · To sit alongside/alone with patients at mealtimes by chatting and encouraging them to eat and drink, ensuring food and drink is within easy reach and accessible to the patient.

·       · Visiting/chatting/reading to patients who may not have visitors.

 

Response

·       Cover desks and welcome patient and visitors to the hospital, providing clear, accurate directions

·       Undertake patient / staff surveys to collect data to understand their experience

·       Confidentiality must be always maintained regarding patients and their property

·       Guide people around the hospital and be proactive in assisting anyone who may be lost or need help

·       Take the Brew Buddy out to support staff wellbeing

·       Whilst carrying a radio always ensuring you speak professionally over the system and never speak about patients over the radio
