Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity to welcome Band 7 applications from Occupational Therapists to join our friendly, innovative and dynamic therapy team for a period of 12 months.

You will be an experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist who will join our expanding, forward thinking and highly regarded Therapy team working within the speciality of Urgent Care or Acute Medicine

You will be working collaboratively with the wider MDT within the Acute Medicine team. 

We have a variety of opportunities for you to develop your leadership skills including bespoke leadership training, mentoring, coaching as well as weekly speciality training. 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be an experienced therapist who will act as an advanced specialist within the  Acute Medicine Team and have experience working in the acute setting.  

You will provide leadership, support and supervision to other team members and be involved in the training, preceptorship and competencies of more junior team members and support staff.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to promoting clinical excellence and evidence based practice.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • DipCot or Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • State Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council
  • Evidence of continuing professional development through maintenance of a portfolio
  • Member of Royal College of Occupational Therapist
  • Clinical Practice Educator Course
Desirable criteria
  • Member of special interest group
  • Post Graduate course relevant to this speciality
  • Management skills or leadership training

Knowledge/experience

Essential criteria
  • Ability to work across 7 day service
  • Relevant experience working within the NHS environment.
  • Evidence of experience and competence in completing Hand Therapy and Splinting Assessments and interventions and working within a Multidisciplinary Team.
  • Current Health and Health & Social Care initiatives and their potential impact on stake holders.
  • Models of practice and frames of reference used within this client group
  • Practice Education
  • Education of other MDT members
  • Experience of MDT goal planning, development of care pathways and using outcome measures
  • Knowledge of community based therapy services and services that external partners offer
  • Supervision of and delegation of work to others
  • Clinical audit
  • Supervision of and delegation of work to others.
