Job overview
The Haematology, Oncology and Chemotherapy service is current looking for 2 Administrative assistants.
You will be working within the fields of Haematology, Oncology and Acute Haemato-Oncology.
Duties include reception, data collection, data entry and general administrative tasks
You will be working the following areas: Centenary wing, Chemotherapy Service Supportive Treatment Unit (CSSTU) and Lilford Ward.
The service have currently got a full time and apart time positions available.
Full time Post 37.5 hours per week.
Part time Post 22.5 hour per week.
Main duties of the job
- To provide administrative support within all Haematology, Oncology and chemotherapy service areas. This includes: Centenary Wing, Chemotherapy service supportive treatment unit, Lilford Ward and The Acute Malignant Haemato-Oncology service.
- To contribute to the effective running of the areas and the service by concentrating on task which directly support administration systems and procedures. For example: ordering the notes in preparation for the patient who are due in the ward for treatment, filing the notes post discharge, answering the telephone and use of the Trust Medway system to admit and discharge patients.

Person specification
Education, Training and Quaifications
Essential criteria
- A good standard of general education, including spoken and written English
- NVQ level 2 in admin or equivalent Hospital experience
Desirable criteria
- Hold or be prepared to work towards NVQ level 3 in Business Administration
Knowlegde and Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in a hospital environment
- Ability to overcome communication barriers
- Experience of administrative procedures
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge and Experience within Haemato-Oncology setting
- Experience in Data collection and analysis
Skills
Essential criteria
- Skills Able to update patient records both written and computer based.
- Ability to deal with queries both face to face and on the telephone
- Ability to use initiative
- Hand/Eye co-ordination, multi skills tasks
- Computer literate, including use of Microsoft office and other programs
- Working knowledge of trust It system such as Medway
- Routine concentration for secretarial work
- Level Headed under Pressure
Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
