Theatre posts in Ophthalmology are suitable for both newly qualified and experienced practitioners. You will work as part of a highly skilled team where you can gain a wealth of experience, supported by a mentor and the management team.

Main duties of the job

- Maintain a high standard of patient focused care in accordance with York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust policies and procedures
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment
- Provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for patients, ensuring accurate written records are kept.
- Communicate with patients to ensure they have access to appropriate information.
- Promote and maintain positive relationships between all staff involved in the care of the patient
- Act in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council / HCPC Code of Conduct
- Demonstrate personal responsibility for compliance with infection control policies and procedures

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration (Level 1) or qualified Operating Department Practitioner with HCPC registration or Anaesthetic Nurse (ENB 182/183 or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Teaching qualification
- NVQ assessor
- Willingness to train as a mentor
Experience
Desirable criteria
- Previous theatre experience at Band 5
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Demonstrate awareness of current issues in health care
- Demonstrate awareness of NHS standards of professional practice
Desirable criteria
- Demonstrate awareness of theatre specialty, and/or specific needs of patients undergoing surgical procedures.
- Demonstrates awareness of evidence based practice within a Theatre environment
- Demonstrates understanding of Health and Safety / COSHH
Applicant requirements
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
