An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the growing team of over 30 Dietitians in the York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a Band 3 Dietetic Support Worker.

You will be joining a forward thinking department of dietitians, dietetic assistant practitioners and a dietetic support worker which is valued and respected throughout the Trust and crosses many specialties and care groups.

Under the supervision of and with the support of the registered dietitians, the successful candidate will be expected to: 

  • Provide a high standard of health care by assisting in a range of individual and group treatment programmes (for which an agreed level of competency has been demonstrated under the direction of a registered Dietitian).
  • Undertake a variety of delegated clinical tasks, to support the delivery of nutritional care in accordance with agreed guidance/care pathways.
  • Undertake a variety of non-clinical tasks to support the Dietetic Service.
  • To offer support to patients through effective communication.
  • To work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  •          To contribute to evidence based audit and projects to evaluate and improve patient care.

Education, Qualifications and Training

  • • A levels ( 3) or • Level 3 national certificate or • Level 3 diploma or • Senior Healthcare support worker apprenticeship or • Mathematics and English to Level 2: Functional Skills/GCSE Grade C
  • • Proactively undertakes relevant specialist or departmental training in order to achieve required knowledge and competency for role.

  • • Level 3 certificate in Health & Social Care
  • • Up to date personal portfolio of learning
  • • Evidence of transferable workplace training and competencies

Experience and Knowledge Required

  • Experience of working as part of a team

  • Experience of mentoring/supervising members of a team
