This post is suitable for an audiologist who has experience of working in an NHS setting as a band 5 audiologist for 2 years. The post holder will work across site at York, Scarborough, Bridlington and Harrogate and therefore the ability to travel between sites is essential. The roles entail working as part of a multidisciplinary team providing highly specialised audiological services including advance and complex assessment and rehabilitation of hearing impaired children.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

  • To assess, treat and provide specialist audiological assessment, treatment, and diagnosis care for a range of paediatric patients. To determine patient and family centred clinical need.
  • To work as an autonomous practitioner in providing audiological cover for ENT clinics for paediatrics, consisting of pure tone audiometry, visual reinforcement audiometry and  tympanometry as required. 
  • Provide a comprehensive hearing aid service to patients referred to the Department from GPs and the ENT Department, including provision of a full range of NHS digital hearing aids. 
  • To provide paediatric assessments, paediatric hearing aid review assessments, hearing aid issues and verification.
  • To support Senior specialist Paediatric Audiology staff with follow ups to the newborn hearing screen including oto-acoustic emissions and evoked response audiometry
  • To use age appropriate questionnaires in evaluating use of hearing aids.
  • To make referrals to the local cochlea implant centre
  • Take responsibility for delivery of evidence based or best practice audiology care. To collaborate with colleagues in caseload management balancing the demands of clinical and organisational priorities.
  • To provide support, leadership, specialist advice and tailored training, supervision and mentorship to less experienced members of staff, students and apprentices.
  • To deputise for more senior colleagues, which may include taking responsibility for elements of day-to-day operational management.

Education, Qualifications and Training

  • BSc in Audiology (or equivalent)
  • Evidence of relevant postgraduate CPD activities

  • Evidence of working with Paediatric Audiology patients
  • Evidence of knowledge of Otoacoustic emissions and evoked potentials

Experience and Knowledge

  • Experience in a relevant junior role, including the management of a range of conditions, with evidence of additional knowledge acquired through formal and informal training and supervision
  • Evidence of ability to manage complex clinical presentations

  • Experience in the use of outcome measures to evaluate clinical treatment
  • Experience of training/supporting others (including students) within specialist clinical area
  • Delivery of relevant audit/research projects
