Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Engagement Lead to join our established and dynamic Sexual Health operations team, working across the Integrated York and North Yorkshire Sexual Health and HIV services.

The role of the Sexual  Health Engagement Lead is to provide expert advice, to ensure appropriate steps are taken to promote inclusive, wide-ranging stakeholder and service user engagement whilst developing robust communications channels.

This exciting opportunity will explore how we better engage and support our service users, with a firm focus on our most at risk populations (MARP’S) and developing strong working relationships with our key stakeholders.

Main duties of the job

The primary focus of this role is to lead on key stakeholder and service user engagement for the Integrated Sexual Health service, on behalf of York and Scarborough Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Our successful candidate will:

  • Lead engagement strategies, including the set up and management of service user (SU)/stakeholder & staff focus groups, networking events and survey/questionnaires whilst taking responsibility for website, intranet and social media activity.  
  • Have design, digital engagement experience and contribute to the production of printed publicity such as newsletters, leaflets, and posters.
  • Contribute towards the marketing and branding of sexual health across all sites.

Previous experience in communications and engagement within the NHS would be an advantage but equally important is the ability to work proactively and flexibility to adapt to ever changing environments.

Education, Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level.
  • Can demonstrate effective writing, editing and co-ordination of both engagement and communication activities

Experience and Knowledge Required

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working across boundaries to develop networks with key stakeholders and partners.
  • Ability to work as part of the wider team and autonomously
Desirable criteria
  • Influencing and strong engagement skills.
  • Previous experience of working within communications and engagement.

Skills and Attributes

Essential criteria
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral; good listening skills.

Aptitude and Personal Qualities

Essential criteria
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and deal with situations in a sensitive manner.
  • Confidence and aptitude in interpersonal relationships, with the ability to work across multi-professional teams and services
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of facilitating service user engagement.
