Job overview

The Planned and Surgical Care Directorate are looking for a Patient Pathway Co-ordinator who can help us deliver an efficient, high quality medical records service across the Trust.  This role is essential to providing safe care to our patients by ensuring that medical records are in the right place at the right time for patients to be treated and then returned to the correct storage location.  This role is a senior member of the team, providing leadership and guidance to our clerical officers and apprentices. The role will be key to helping us achieve our targets. 

Main duties of the job

The post requires an efficient, caring and proactive individual with an appreciation and understanding of the confidential nature of the work.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail, be excellent communicators with good telephone skills and have the ability to meet deadlines on a daily basis whilst maintaining a positive approach, and providing a quality service that supports our patient care.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Main responsibilities:

  • Clinic Creation/Changes
  • Management of clinics which includes clinic cancellations, reappointment of cancelled appointments and checking availability of clinic slots.
  • Supporting the Team Leader to monitor capacity and manage both new and follow up waiting lists.
  • Cash up clinics and making follow ups
  • Training staff.
  • Providing annual leave cover for Team Leader

Essential criteria
  • A good standard of general education to GCSE level (5 GCSE grade A*-C) or equivalent

Experience

  • Previous experience of booking outpatient appointments

Knowledge

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Experienced iCS and ERS user
