Job overview

We are looking for a confident Care Support Worker with a passion for delivering outstanding care, willing to join our small and a friendly team.

  • Elmwood unit & medical outpatients are both busy outpatient areas with variety of medical and surgical outpatient clinics.
  • Elmwood also has the nurse led leg ulcer and diabetic foot service attached to it.

 

Main duties of the job

We require a Care support worker to work across three outpatient departments, Elmwood, Cedar and Medical Day Unit. The postholder will have an NVQ in care. The postholder will assist the qualified staff in outpatient clinics, but must also be able to work unsupervised. Good communication and organisational skills are vital to this post.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To work as a member of the Elmwood/medical outpatients team carrying out assigned tasks involving direct patient care in support of and supervised by a registered nurse.
  • To be familiar with and work within department and Trust protocols and policies.
  • To prepare equipment and rooms ready for clinic sessions.
  • To have a thorough knowledge of the care and cleaning of instruments and accessories used throughout the departments.
  • To have knowledge of the correct use of moving and handling aids when assisting with moving patients.

To be aware of the health and safety aspects pertinent to staff and patients

  • • NVQ in care or willingness to undertake.
  • • Willingness to learn new skills and participate in appropriate training.
Desirable criteria
  • IT skills
  • Basic life support training
  • Moving and handling training
