Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Ward Sister/Charge Nurse position on Byland Ward at Harrogate District Hospital.

We have a friendly and supportive multidisciplinary team and together we are dedicated in providing the highest standards of care to patients who are frail and acutely unwell. 

Main duties of the job

The post is suitable for an experienced band 5 or equivalent who feels that they are ready for a new challenge who are able to motivate a team. 

The post holder will need to be able to provide professional, clinical and managerial leadership to nursing staff within the Ward and have responsibility for maintaining the highest standards of care for patients in the Ward setting and to ensure patients have a positive experience.

The applicant would need to have good communication skills and be able to work closely with patients and families/carers to provide specialist nursing and care.

Be able to work as an effective member of the multidisciplinary team, providing high quality nursing care for patients to aid them through their acute illness and through the rehabilitation process.

To assist in the training of junior staff and students and act as role model.

  • Registered nurse
  • ENB 998 or equivalent to be either completed or due to be completed
Desirable criteria
  • A Degree in Nursing
  • Foundation Management/ leadership training

Experience

  • Experience in Palliative Care
  • Nursing Supervisory experience
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in charge management
  • Leadership experience
